Elevate Your Holiday Styling: A Unique Way to Hang Staircase Garland

Updated: May 26

Hey friends! The holiday season is here, and it’s time to deck the halls! I’m a big fan of getting festive early, and one of my favorite ways to set the tone is with garland. This year, I'm sharing a fresh way to elevate your holiday styling by weaving your garland through the balusters of your staircase instead of fastening it to the handrail. It’s a simple twist that creates a unique and stylish look. Let’s get to it!

Step-by-Step Guide to Hanging Your Garland:

1. Anchor Your Base

Start at the bottom of the staircase and secure the garland to the first few balusters. This gives you a solid base to build on as you work your way up, making sure everything stays in place as you go!

2. Weave Through the Balusters

Work your way up, threading the garland in and out of the balusters. This weaving technique creates a dynamic, textured look that feels intentional and elegant, rather than just draped over the railing.

3. Fluff and Adjust

Wherever the garland crosses to the opposite side of the balusters, take a moment to fluff and adjust it. This ensures no sparse spots and gives your garland that lush, full-bodied appearance that catches everyone’s eye.

The Finished Look

And there you have it! A beautifully styled staircase that feels fresh and festive. This weaving method is perfect for refreshing your look without having to buy a whole new garland! It’s a small change that makes a big impact.

If you try this out, let me know how it turns out—I’d love to see your holiday décor! Happy decorating! Oh, and yeah, there’s a video tutorial on our Pinterest with visuals for all you visual learners—perfect for guiding you through every step!
