Eternity Series: The God Who Remembers You

Hi Fam!

Let’s talk about waiting. Because let’s be honest—everyone’s waiting for something. A husband. A house. A raise. A baby. A breakthrough. You name it. Whatever it is, it doesn’t have to consume you. But sometimes… it still does.

I’ll be the first to admit that the things I’m waiting for can take up way too much space in my mind. It’s like I go through my day feeling like my glass is half empty instead of half full. But that’s not the life God intended for us. If you’re in a waiting season (and I have a strong feeling you are), keep reading—this one’s for you.

Starting Here: God Is Still Good

Since this is the Eternity blog series, I want to start by saying God is good.

Now, I know that phrase can sound cliché when life feels heavy or slow. But it’s not just something to say at church. It’s a truth that anchors us, especially when the waiting feels never-ending.

Even when you don’t understand what's taking so long... Even when you’re not sure if the answer will ever come... Even when it feels like your prayers are hitting a wall... God is still good.

Hannah’s Story: The Long Wait and the Silent Tears

I recently read the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1–2, and it stopped me in my tracks.

Hannah was a woman who deeply longed for a child. She prayed. She cried. She waited. Year after year, nothing changed. And to make it worse, her husband’s other wife mocked her for not being able to conceive.

But instead of giving up, she took her pain to the only One who could actually handle it: God.

One day, she was silently crying and praying so intensely that Eli, the priest, actually accused her of being drunk:

“How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine.”1 Samuel 1:14

But she gently responded:

“I am a woman who is deeply troubled… I was pouring out my soul to the Lord… I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”1 Samuel 1:15–16

And Eli, realizing his mistake, blessed her. He didn’t promise a miracle—but Hannah walked away with peace anyway. Not because she got what she asked for yet, but because she had given it to God.

The Turning Point (and a Gentle Reminder)

Eventually, God did bless her with a child. She gave birth to Samuel, and Scripture says:

"And the Lord remembered her.”1 Samuel 1:19

But here’s the thing I don’t want you to miss:

Just because Hannah’s story ended in a “yes” doesn’t mean every story will look the same.

Sometimes God says yes. Sometimes He says not yet. And sometimes—He says no.

But all the time, His answer comes from love, and His plan is always better than ours—even when we don’t understand it in the moment.

We only see part of the picture. He sees the whole thing. And that alone makes Him worthy of our trust.

When It Feels Like He’s Forgotten

If you’ve ever felt overlooked or forgotten while others are stepping into the very thing you’re still praying for—please hear me: You are not forgotten.

God remembers you. God sees you. God hasn’t left you out.

His timing might be different. The outcome might not look like what you pictured. But He is still working!

And He is still good.

A Promise You Can Hold On To

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”Romans 8:28

This is truth you can build your hope on. He’s working all things—even delays, disappointments, and detours—for your good and His glory. So don’t hide from God in the waiting. Don’t assume He’s holding out on you. Run to Him. Trust Him. Let Him hold your heart while you wait.

Let’s Talk—Discussion Question

If you're in a waiting season right now, take a second to really reflect.

This week’s question is: What would it look like to fully trust God, even if His answer looks different than what you hoped for?
