Eternity Series: A very thankful Christmas Season

Whoa guys! I missed you last month :)
I wish I could say I skipped the November blog because I was buried in work, but honestly… I just wanted to slow down and be present with my family. You already know this is my favorite time of year. The lights, the coziness, the food, the matching pajamas… I’m here for all of it.
So instead of this month’s Eternity blog being just about Christmas, we’re blending Thanksgiving and Christmas together because they actually have more in common than we realize. Alright, let’s jump in.
Let’s be honest: the turkey, the presents, the lights, and the décor are all wonderful. They absolutely help make the holidays feel special. But beneath all the sparkle and traditions… what is the true meaning of this season?
What do Thanksgiving and Christmas really share?
At first, they seem totally different. One is all about food and gathering, and the other is about celebration and giving. But at their core, they point to the same thing: a heart turned toward God.
Despite the turkey and the stuffing, Thanksgiving has always been about giving thanks. Being grateful for your family, your health, your friendships, and your life. But have you ever stopped and asked yourself:
Who exactly are you thanking?
It’s not the universe. It’s not “energy.” It’s not yourself.
All gratitude ultimately has a direction, and that direction is toward the Lord. Every blessing you have, every moment you cherish, every bit of provision, comfort, peace, protection, and opportunity… it all comes from Him.
Giving thanks is worship. It’s acknowledging that you aren’t the source and that He is. That’s why Thanksgiving, at its foundation, is deeply spiritual, whether people realize it or not.
And then there’s Christmas. It’s so easy to get swept away in shopping, traditions, parties, and photoshoots . . . I get it, I love all of that too. But we can’t forget the true meaning of Christmas:
The birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The very reason this blog exists. The reason you exist. The reason we have hope, purpose, and the chance to live a purified, redeemed life.
What a powerful truth! That the Savior of the world came to us through a virgin named Mary. That God wrapped Himself in flesh and stepped into our brokenness so we could be restored to Him.
Everything we celebrate at Christmas points back to that holy night in Bethlehem.
And this is how it all ties together:
Thanksgiving is our response. Christmas is God’s gift.
Thanksgiving aligns our hearts in gratitude. Christmas reveals the One we’re grateful to.
During this season, we aren’t just celebrating moments. We’re remembering a relationship. A God who gives, a God who comes close, a God who saves, and a God who deserves every thank-you whispered around every table.
So as we enjoy the traditions, the food, the family time, the lights, the gifts, let’s anchor ourselves in the truth:
Everything we’re thankful for exists because Jesus came. And everything we hope for is possible because He still does.
Prayer and Reflection
Father, thank You for this season. A time to remember Your goodness and the gift of Your Son. Teach us to be truly thankful, not just for what we have, but for who You are. Help us celebrate Christmas with hearts centered on Jesus, and help our gratitude overflow into worship. May this season draw us closer to You, reminding us that every blessing comes from Your hand. Amen.
Have a very thankful Christmas!
Until Next Time, Hannah <3
