Eternity Series: Three Truths That Changed My Life by Twenty-Three

Updated: Jul 18

Hi fam! Did You Miss Me?

I was off last week because it was my birthday! And before you ask, yes, I had such a great time celebrating! It was a good day all around, but now the party’s over, and I’m back, ready to dive into faith with something close to my heart: 3 Truths I’ve Learned in my 23 Years of Life. Considering the occasion, I thought this would be a fun and meaningful way to reflect and share. So, let’s jump right in!

Truth Number One: The Things of This World Don’t Matter

You know that car you dream of owning someday? Or that job, house, or lifestyle you’re desperate to have? Here’s the hard truth: none of that really matters in the grand scheme.

Think about it—when you die, do you honestly think all those things come with you? No way.

Mark 8:36 puts it simply:

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world yet forfeit their soul?”

Chasing after stuff that doesn’t last only leaves you empty. But chasing after the one thing that truly matters—Jesus—that’s what’s worth your whole life.

Truth Number Two: Money Isn't Evil

A lot of people get confused about this one.

You might have heard the phrase:

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil…” (1Timothy 6:10)

But here’s the key—money itself isn’t evil. It’s loving money, or loving it more than God, that leads us down a dark path.

God never said you can’t have money. In fact, He often uses people with resources to do incredible work for His kingdom. So don’t feel ashamed of wanting financial blessings or pursuing success. Just don’t let money become your master. Keep it in its place.

Truth Number Three: You Are Forgiven — Completely and Fully

This one is so personal for me. I’ve wrestled with God over my mistakes, thinking, “How could You possibly forgive me after what I’ve done?”

But here’s what I’ve learned: when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your past self dies. You become new.

The Holy Spirit moves in to guide you, convict you, and help you live out that new life every day.

If you’re struggling to believe you’re forgiven, remember this: if you don’t accept God’s forgiveness, you’re calling Him a liar. And the real liar?

That’s the enemy—the same one who deceived Eve with these words:

“You will not surely die.” (Genesis 3:4)

But when she ate the fruit, death entered the world—both physical and spiritual death. Our old selves are gone, but through Jesus, we get new life.

So… What Will You Do With These Truths?

You’ve heard my three truths, but now it’s your turn. What will you do with them? Will you keep chasing what doesn’t last—or will you start leaning into the only thing that truly does? Whether you’ve known Jesus for years or are just starting to ask questions, I want you to know this: it’s never too late to realign your life with what matters most. Choose eternity. Choose truth. Choose Jesus.

A Closing Thought + Invitation

If you’ve been holding onto guilt, shame, or doubt, I want you to know—you are forgiven. God’s love covers it all. His grace is bigger than your mistakes.

Maybe you haven’t yet invited Jesus into your life. If that’s you, here’s a simple prayer you can pray right now:

“Jesus, I know I’ve made mistakes. I believe You died for me and rose again. I want to turn from my old ways and follow You. Please forgive me and come into my life. Help me live with Your Spirit guiding me every day. Amen.”

If you prayed that, welcome to a new beginning. You are loved more than you can imagine.

Let’s Talk — Discussion Question

This week’s question is: What’s one thing in your life you need to stop chasing because it doesn’t truly satisfy? How can you start chasing after what really matters—your soul’s true rest in Jesus?
